On 8/25/21 at approximately 1400 hours a Bolo was put out in regards to a subject wanted for attempted homicide in North Carolina. The subject a white male 23 years of age was to be driving a dark in color Lexus with North Carolina registration. It was later learned he was traveling on US 15 northbound where Troopers from Troop H Gettysburg observed said vehicle and attempted a traffic stop at which time a pursuit ensued, spike strips were deployed after which the subject exited his vehicle at US 15 and SR 234 and fled into a heavily wooded area. A perimeter was quickly established using PSP along with several Adams County police departments and Sheriff's Office Deputies. PSP Cert and Aviation were contacted and deployed along with PIO for communication. After several hours the subject was observed moving in the thick underbrush by Sheriff's Office personnel who after calling for and receiving back up from PSP proceeded to approach the subject at which time he was observed pointing his weapon at his head and firing the weapon. Life-saving measures were attempted on scene but were unsuccessful.
Thankfully due to the professionalism displayed by all law enforcement personnel involved no one else was harmed.
