In addition to the Basic Deputy Sheriff’s Academy to obtain their Act 2 Certification, Sheriff’s Deputies are required to undergo annual firearms training and qualification along with training in the use of Deadly Force. Update training is mandated for Defensive tactics and Less-Lethal Weapons every two years in order to maintain their state-authorized certification.
