                                        Wanted Fugitive Apprehended

On July 9, 2019 at approximately 0814 hours, Warrant Deputies of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office travelled to 572 Bendersville-Wenksville Rd. Aspers, PA. in an attempt to arrest Seth Dittmar. Dittmar was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant for Possession of Child Pornography and Criminal Use of a Communication Facility. The Deputies gained consent to search the residence but were not able to locate Dittmar, at that time. Later that day, the Deputies received a tip that Dittmar was to be back at the Aspers address with his girlfriend.  Deputy Timothy Beall stated that the tipster advised him that Dittmar had been hiding in the attic crawl space, under insulation, when they were there earlier. Deputy Beall requested assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police of the Gettysburg Barracks. A Corporal and two Troopers responded, arriving before the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Deputies. The Troopers were denied entry by one of the residents there. The Adams County Warrant Deputies and 4 additional Deputies arrived and a perimeter was set up. The home owner then arrived and granted permission for the residence to be searched. Dittmar was found to be hiding in the attic, underneath insulation, by Sheriff’s Deputies. The Deputies gave Dittmar verbal commands, to surrender, which he disregarded. Dittmar forced his way, through drywall, down to a first floor bedroom. He, then, jumped through a window to the outside. Dittmar proceeded to flee into a wooded area comprised of very rocky and uneven terrain. As Troopers and Deputies pursued on foot, one of the Deputies fell and was injured and another twisted his knee. Sgt. John Wega of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Dittmar without further incident. Both Deputies were later transported to Gettysburg Hospital, checked for their injuries and subsequently released. Dittmar was also transported to Gettysburg Hospital for a pre-commitment medical examination. He was, subsequently, transported by Deputies to the Adams County Adult Correctional Complex. The Pennsylvania State Police will be filing further appropriate charges against Dittmar.
